gypsum
The scientific name of gypsum stone is GYPSUM and its chemical formula is caso4.2h2o. It is one of the sedimentary rocks that dissolve in sea water. The formation of this stone is produced by the deposition of calcium sulfate dissolved in sea water and other minerals. This substance contains calcium, which ion removes soil salinity, and after that, soil efficiency increases.
In fact, gypsum is one of the destructive sedimentary rocks and it exists as a solution in sea water. When the water evaporates in some parts of the sea, this material is no longer soluble and is deposited in an insoluble form, and due to chemical activities, it passes away. Over the years, these salt deposits have been combined with decaying plants and other minerals, and the result is the formation of layered rocks, alternately one layer is gypsum and the other layer is limestone. It takes the form of gypsum mines, which have great geological value.
If this material is pure, its color is white and transparent, but if it is mixed with impurities, it is opaque. Almost 50% of the mineral structure of this stone is water. This water is completely dry and is known as crystallization water.

This material can no longer be soluble and part of it becomes insoluble and precipitates. Then, as a result of chemical activities, over the years, these salt deposits were combined with decayed plants and other minerals, and finally, the result was the formation of layered rocks, one layer of which was alternately gypsum and the other layer was limestone. which is a type of transparent sheet, it is formed as gypsum mines, which is very valuable from the point of view of geology. The gypsum deposits are stacked in flat layers about 6 to 8 feet thick.
Raw gypsum is a kind of stone accompanied by powder from explosion in the mine. One of the main characteristics of gypsum from the gypsum mines of Semnan province is its whiteness and high purity percentage. In terms of volume, the stone that is extracted from mines as the raw material for gypsum production, nearly 50% of its mineral structure is water. This water is completely dry and is known as crystallization water.
Applications of raw plaster:
-The use of gypsum in medicine
-Mould
-In the preparation of calcium sulfat
-Production and supply of cement
-Preparation and production of construction plaster
This type of mineral with a purity of 97% is being exploited. The definitive reserve of this mine is 5,000,000 tons and its annual extraction is equal to 60,000 tons.
